About Ring Holders Club

Ring Holders Club is an unofficial NBA fan project run by basketball fans for basketball fans. The site has two parts: a browser game and a written history of every NBA champion since the league's first title in 1947.

The game

You can draft a playoff run from random champion squads or solve a daily tactics puzzle built around a fixed historic matchup. Both modes use curated championship rosters and year-specific player ratings. The game is free to play in the browser. No download required.

The history section

The NBA champions section is a running reference: one page per title team, with the regular-season record, the Finals result, the roster, and a short article on how that squad won. We also publish franchise histories, decade overviews, and guides on NBA championship history.

The copy is written to be specific and checkable. We name records, Finals opponents, series results, and the players who mattered. When a fact is uncertain, we leave it out rather than guess.

Data and sources

Championship rosters, records, and player ratings are curated from public historical records, primarily Basketball-Reference and other widely used NBA reference sites. Player ratings in the game reflect peak contribution in that title run, not career averages. They are estimates for entertainment, not official NBA statistics.

Editorial standards

  • History articles do not pitch the game. They stand on their own.
  • Every paragraph should carry a fact only that team could claim.
  • We do not scrape or republish articles from other sites.
  • We update the history section as new champions are crowned.

Not affiliated with the NBA

Ring Holders Club is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the NBA, its teams, or any player union. Team names, player names, and franchise histories are used descriptively for fan education and entertainment.
