2025 Oklahoma City Thunder
The 2024-25 Oklahoma City Thunder won 68 games and the franchise's first title since the move from Seattle, beating the Indiana Pacers in a seven-game Finals. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander swept the honors, taking the scoring title, regular-season MVP, and Finals MVP in the same year. They were the youngest team to reach the Finals since the 1977 Trail Blazers.
Oklahoma City finished 68-14, sixteen games clear of the next-best team in the West, the largest gap between a one and two seed in league history. The roster was young and built through the draft and a deep stash of picks, with Isaiah Hartenstein and Alex Caruso added for size and defense.
Gilgeous-Alexander led the league at 32.7 points a game. He became the first player since Shaquille O'Neal in 2000 to win the scoring title, MVP, and Finals MVP in one season. Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren gave him a two-way frontcourt and a reliable second and third option.
The playoffs were not smooth. The Thunder swept Memphis, survived seven games against Denver, and beat Minnesota in five. The Finals went the distance against Indiana, the first Game 7 since 2016.
Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles in the first quarter of Game 7. Oklahoma City pulled away in the second half to win 103-91, with Gilgeous-Alexander finishing 29 points and 12 assists. It was the franchise's first championship since the SuperSonics won in 1979.
